If you really want to push the boundaries of Fairtrade, why not make your own!
Our son needs a new duvet cover, and we have been looking for the Fair Trade options. There are plain (boring) white ones , tie-dye batik ones and some more conventional patterned ones. But none are exactly what we are looking for…
So, my wife is keen is to get some Fair Trade fabric of exactly the pattern we want and create the cover ourselves. There are some lovely Fair Trade fabrics available by the metre - examples are here and here.
We shall be visiting one of the outlets that sells them around Easter and we’ll let you know what the fabrics are like and how the ‘home-made’ approach works. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities…

It’s great to be so spoiled for choice!
Hello,
Found you through Georgie’s blog, so glad I did! Thanks for this post, it’s just what I was looking for and I’ve put a link in my own in the hope that other crafters will take a look and start using Fair Trade fabric as well. You might also like to know about these buttons I ran across recently too: http://www.debbiecripps.co.uk/acatalog/Injabulo_Buttons.html
I’m not sure if they’re certified but it’s a good start.
Let’s hope everyone switches to using Fair Trade fabric.
Let me know how your designs go…
